Advanced Power Machinery manufactures three types of Ground Power Units:
"Almost indestructable", general comment by RAAF personnel
Ground Power Units (GPUs)
APM's GPUs provide either AC, or AC and DC power for the operation of aircraft avionics and engine start up on the ground. They are available in sizes ranging from 45 kVA to 180 kVA. A reliable diesel powers each APM GPU, which can run for over 12 hours continuously on one tank of fuel. APM's GPU's are suited to both civilian and military applications and are used widely by the Royal Australian Air Force.
All-terrain GPUs
The
All-terrain GPU is built to be taken anywhere. It has a heavy duty
undercarriage, 4 wheel brakes and high ground clearance. The All-terrain GPU is well suited to military applications, and can be slung-lift by helicopter.
Frequency Converters
APM's Frequency Converters transform 3 phase mains power into 400 Hz power for the running of aircraft avionics in hangers or in fixed positions on the tarmac. They are skid mounted and available in sizes from 45 kVA to 180 kVA. APM's frequency converters are built for outdoor installation, and can be controlled remotely from up to 4 stations. The clean 400 Hz power provided by these units is used by the Royal Australian Navy in remote areas of coastal Australia and they can also be specified for use with commercial aircraft.
