Ease of use
APMs GPUs and frequency converters were designed from the ground
up with the user in mind. The control panel is virtually self explanatory, it is
set out logically, and it uses super-bright LEDs rather than unreliable globes.
Major design effort has gone into producing a user interface that is intuitive
and enables easy operation.
These power carts are guaranteed to
run for a minimum of 12 hours continuous operation
on a tank of fuel, and can be refuelled while running. There is
also a 2 level fuel alarm when the diesel gets low eliminating the annoying job of priming the engine. The power cable stows
neatly inside. Gas filled struts on all hinged covers make it fast to get in and use
the unit. The Electro Magnetic Interference / Electro Magnetic Capability
(EMI/EMC) to military standard MIL STD 461D means that all the aircraft's
instrumentation can be safely used without interference from the GPU.
APM's GPUs also easy to move around.
The drawbar pivots to suit a range of vehicles. The precise steering geometry
means smooth tracking. A conveniently located park brake means it can be safely
parked anywhere. Foreign Object Displacement tyres for use on tarmac reduce
the likelihood of stones being thrown into the paths of aircraft.
New operators need less training to be able to operate an APM GPU properly
. The reliability of the unit and its
components and its large fuel capacity and early low-warning system mean that the
operator can concentrate on getting the aircraft running. These features make the unit extremely
safe as well.
Quiet Operation
The APM GPU runs quietly. At 7 meters the noise level is only 73 dBa, far less than
the noise levels of most other GPUs. The frequency converter is even quieter with
a noise level of only 68 dBa. The

reduces fatigue levels and makes it easier
to operate.
Reliability
The reliability of APM's GPUs and
frequency converters starts with the ultra-reliable super-bright LEDs in the
control panel, includes the state of the art military grade electronics, the
tropic-proofed windings on the dual-bearing brushless alternator,
the reliable Japanese diesel, the high performance electronic governor, and
goes right down to the stainless steel hinges and bolts used throughout the
machine and zinc-annealed steel sheeting.
Machine reliability is further
enhanced by an additional fuel filter and water trap in addition to the standard
fuel filter. A mesh strainer is also included as standard on all machines. It also has a air-cleaner restriction warning
The GPU is built to ISO 9001 quality
standard. It uses "state-of-the art"
components and high quality materials with each unit undergoing both quality control checks and
rigorous testing prior to delivery. These machines are designed to perform reliably
year after year.
When powering avionics worth millions of dollars the power
supply must be absolutely consistent. The power output of the APM GPU exceeds
the demanding military standard MIL-STD-704E (and BS 2G219-1983). Your
aircraft are safe when powered with an APM GPU.
Toughness
APMs GPU has been designed, tested and certified to demanding military
standards. It has passed the NATA test of continuous operation at
50 degrees C at full load. For humid conditions the circuit boards have a full solder mask,
and have complete tropic-proofing, along with the alternator.
The canopy on
all GPU and frequency converter models can be walked on. They are built
for tough conditions. These are robust machines, they have been
built to work reliably for many years in any environment.
